Alternative travel routes to Sørvågen

Lew

  • Direct flights from Bodø and Oslo (via Widerøe).

  • From Leknes, it takes approx. 2 hours by car to Sørvågen (E10 westwards).

  • Car rental is available at the airport.

Bodø

  • From Bodø you can take the ferry directly to Moskenes, which is only 5 minutes from Sørvågen by car.

  • The ferry route is operated by Torghatten Nord, and runs all year round (but check timetables, especially in winter).

  • This is a popular and beautiful itinerary – perfect if you want to combine flying and sea experience.

Evenes

  • Direct flights from several Norwegian and international cities (e.g. Oslo, Bergen, London).

  • Drive the E10 from Evenes to Sørvågen – a scenic trip of approx. 5 hours.

  • You can rent a car at the airport or take a bus to Lofoten.

By car

Lofoten is made for a road trip, and many people choose to drive all the way - especially in the summer months.

From Oslo:

  • Calculate approx. 20-22 hours of driving (approx. 1,400 km).

  • Many divide the journey and combine it with accommodation and nature experiences along the way.

From Tromsø or Narvik:

  • From Narvik: approx. 6 hours by car (E10 all the way).

  • From Tromsø: approx. 10 hours, depending on the chosen route and weather conditions.

Tip:

By public transport

  • Express boats and buses connect cities such as Bodø, Svolvær and Leknes with Sørvågen.
  • If you travel by public transport all the way, a combination of train (to e.g. Bodø or Narvik), ferry and bus can be a great and affordable solution.
